Tyre Construction
SINGLE PLY CASING:
Single ply casing is lightweight and features one layer of nylon wrapped from bead to bead. It adapts well to the terrain surface it rides upon.
WIRE BEAD:
The wire bead keeps the inflated tyre firmly secured to the rim. The bead is made of a strong metal wire, which gives it strength under varying conditions.
FOLDABLE BEAD:
A foldable bead has more strength and is easier to mount on a tyre. It is also lighter in weight and easier to transport.
THREADS PER INCH (TPI):
Cycle tyre casings are made of cloth consisting of nylon or other material arranged in plies, TPI refers to the number of nylon threads that cross through 1 square inch of the tyre casing.
HIGH TPI
Tyre with higher TPI are more agile and offer a smoother ride, thanks to their seamless adaptability to terrain. They are the best choice for racing and have low rolling resistance. They are also lighter in weight construction.
LOW TPI:
Tyres with lower TPI offer improved punctured and tear resistance. Lower TPI results in higher durability but also an increases in the overall weight of the tyre . Thicker sidewalls also make them more resistant to cuts.
COMPOUND
COMPOUND:
The rubber compound forms the outermost layer of the tyre. It is one of the most important features of the tyre, which greatly affects the performance of the tyre. Compounds are available in both single and dual options. MRH has developed the DURA tough compound formula to give riders greater advantage on the road.
SINGLE COMPOUND
Single compound treads optimize the longevity and performance of the tyre, and takes endurance to a higher level.
DUAL COMPOUND
Harder compound is used in the tyre’s center while a softer compound is used in the tyre’s shoulder area. As a result, the tyre lasts longer and provides strong grip on sharp turns. Soft shoulder makes ride more comfortable.
